제64회 그래미 어워즈 후보 명단 공개

11월 23일 2022 그래미 어워즈(이하 그래미) 후보 명단이 공개됐다. 그래미를 주관하는 미국 레코딩 아카데미 회원 1만 2천 명이 10월 22일부터 11월 5일까지 투표한 결과이다. 최다 노미네이트 아티스트는 11개 부문에 오른 존 바티스트(Jon Batiste)이다. 재즈 거장들을 이을 차세대 재즈 뮤지션으로 평가받는 그는 미국 CBS 토크쇼 <더 레이트 쇼 위드 스티븐 콜베어(The Late Show With Stephen Colbert)>의 음악 감독이자 재즈 키보디스트로 활동 중이다. 이번 그래미에는 자신의 앨범 [We Are]과 영화   OST로 후보에 올랐다. 그는 앞서 2021 오스카 시상식에서 OST로 트렌트 레즈너, 애티커스 로스와 함께 ‘베스트 오리지널 스코어’ 상을 수상한 바 있다. 존 바티스트 다음으로 저스틴 비버(Justin Bieber)와 도자 캣(Doja Cat), 허(H.E.R.)가 8개 부문에, 빌리 아일리시(Billie Eilish), 올리비아 로드리고(Olivia Rodrigo)가 7개 부문에 이름을 올렸다. 올해 처음 그래미 후보에 오른 로드리고는 빅 4 부문(올해의 앨범올해의 레코드올해의 노래베스트 뉴 아티스트)에 모두 후보로 지명됐다. 


그 밖에 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 우수한 성적을 냈던 아티스트의 노미네이트 결과를 살펴보면, 테일러 스위프트(Taylor Swift)는 [evermore]로 ‘올해의 앨범’ 한 부문에만 이름을 올렸다. [Donda]로 전 세계를 떠들썩하게 했던 칸예 웨스트(Kanye West)는 ‘올해의 앨범’부터  ‘베스트 랩 앨범’, ‘베스트 랩 노래’, ‘베스트 멜로딕 랩 퍼포먼스’까지 총 4개 부문에 지명됐다. 칸예와 비슷한 시기에 정규 앨범 [Certified Lover Boy]를 발표한 드레이크는 ‘베스트 랩 앨범’과  ‘베스트 랩 퍼포먼스’ 2개의 부문에 올랐다. 항상 이슈를 몰고 다니는  릴 나스 엑스(Lil Nas X)는 본상 3개 부문(‘올해의 앨범’,  ‘올해의 레코드’,  ‘올해의 노래’)을 포함해 총 5개 부문에 오르며 마케팅으로 성공한 래퍼라는 비판을 잠재운 듯 보인다. 


한편, 방탄소년단(BTS)은 본상 격인 빅 4 부문에는 오르지 못했지만, 작년에 이어 올해도 ‘베스트 팝 듀오/그룹 퍼포먼스’ 후보에 올랐다. 콜드플레이(Coldplay), 도자 캣 & 시저(Doja Cat & SZA), 토니 베넷 & 레이디 가가(Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga), 저스틴 비버 & 베니 블랑코(Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco)와 해당 부문에서 경쟁하게 된다. 과연 ‘Butter’로 그래미의 첫 트로피를 거머쥘지 관심이 쏠린다. 

 

방탄소년단 외에 한국인 아티스트가 또 한 명 후보로 지명됐다. ‘베스트 리믹스 레코딩(Best Remixed Recording)’ 부문에 오른 프로듀서 겸 아티스트인 이스케이프드림(3SCAPE DRM)으로 DJ 제드(Zedd)와 그리프(Griff)의 곡 ‘Inside Out’으로 후보에 올랐다. 


지난 2월 9일 세상을 떠난 칙 코리아(Chick Corea)의 올해 수상 결과는 역대 최다 수상자 2위 기록에 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다. 그는 지금까지 그래미에서 25개의 트로피를 가져갔으며, 만약 이번에 후보에 오른 4개 부문에서 모두 수상하면 그래미 역사상 두 번째로 많은 상을 받은 아티스트가 된다. 현재 역대 최다 수상자는 총 31회 수상한 영국의 클래식 지휘자 게오르그 솔티(Georg Solti)이다. 비욘세(Beyonce)와 퀸시 존스(Quincy Jones)가 28회로 그 뒤를 잇는다.
